Charles Drooms, 59, of Bowling Green, Kentucky sits on the back step of a friends home on Wednesday, April 13, 2016. Drooms moved to Bowling Green from Marion County, Kentucky 34 years ago with his brother after his father passed away. "I done construction 15 years," Drooms said. Samantha Towe is the single mother of her 18-month-old daughter, Ansley Hibbitt. Hibbitt see's her father twice a week and spends the rest of the time with her mother. Towe was with Hibbitt's father for 2 months before separating, so she has been raising Hibbitt alone for most of Hibbitt's life. "The best part of being a single mother would have to be how rewarding it is to see her smile at the end of the day and have her hug my neck and tell me she loves me," Towe said. On the other end, Towe says there are some hard parts of raising Hibbitt alone. "Not having someone there to share this with, " Towe said, "the good times and the bad."

Kelsea Perkins, 20, and Sam McCain, 20, have been in a relationship for 19 months. McCain identifies as gender queen, which means they do not identify as a male or female, and is also pansexual. Perkins, on the other hand, identifies as lesbian and is cisgender, which means she identifies as a female. Although they have both known for a while that there was something different about them, Perkins came out as lesbian in March and McCain came out as gender queer when they came to college. "I had to keep Sam a secret for a while," Perkins said. "At the time, I was living with a preachers family. I wanted to get the gay out of me by going to church. I thought something was wrong with me, that it was just the devil." Eventually, the family that Perkins was living with kicked her out because of he views on marriage equality and her friend choices. "There for a while, we were the only people we had. I moved out last year and haven't spoken to my family since," McCain said. Both Perkins and McCain have families that are not accepting of their lifestyle. McCain said there are positives and negatives to their certain relationship. "Our worlds are so different. We don't always understand each other, like me being pansexual and not understand what its like to be attracted to just one sex. But that ties in with the most positive thing, which is having to communicate with one another," McCain said.

WKU freshman Marianna Baker, 18, is put in hand cuffs at an anti-Trump rally on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016 outside of Pierce Ford Tower. "He asked me if I wanted to be arrested, I said no, and then he hand cuffed me," Baker said as she was being lead to the police vehicle. Baker was one of four protestors arrested on the charges of disorderly conduct and failure to disperse.
